1. Who we are

Veni Spaces is a property and venue booking platform operated from Nairobi, Kenya. We connect users with verified event venues, boardrooms, BnB stays and long-term rental properties. References to "we", "us" or "our" mean Veni Spaces.

2. Data we collect

We collect the following personal data:

  • Phone number — required for account creation and OTP verification
  • Full name — collected during onboarding
  • Email address — optional, collected if you sign in via email
  • Profile photo — optional, uploaded by you
  • KYC identity documents — collected when you activate booking or listing roles, verified via Smile Identity
  • Payment data — M-Pesa transaction references, Stripe payment tokens. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Device and usage data — IP address, device type, pages visited, search queries

3. How we use your data

  • To verify your identity and prevent fraud
  • To process bookings and payments through escrow
  • To send booking confirmations, OTP codes, and service notifications via SMS
  • To improve search results and listing recommendations
  • To comply with our legal obligations under the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019

4. Data sharing

We share your data only where necessary:

  • Smile Identity — KYC verification
  • Africa's Talking — SMS delivery
  • Flutterwave / Stripe — payment processing
  • Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure
  • Cloudinary — image storage

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

5. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Booking and payment records are retained for 7 years for legal and tax compliance. KYC documents are retained for 5 years. You may request deletion of your account at any time — see Section 7.

6. Your rights (Kenya Data Protection Act 2019)

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Object to processing of your data for direct marketing
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner
